NBC announced that Mariah Carey will replace Janet Jackson
on the next episode of "Saturday Night Live".
As for Janet Jackson, she "is fine" after being rushed to the
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday night where it was
determined she is suffering from flu.
"Janet did go to the hospital last night due to the
fact she's been suffering from this flu that's kicked a lot of people's
behinds," Jackson's publicist Patti Webster was quoted by The Associated
Press as saying. "She was never admitted and she is fine."
Unfortunately, the R&B singer was forced to cancel her
scheduled "Saturday Night Live" performance, planned for the weekend,
due to the sickness.
Most recently, Janet's new album, "Discipline,"
became #1 on Billboard's Top 200, selling over 178,000 copies. This is the
artist's first No.1 album since 2001's "All For You."
In addition to the tour plans she has for later this year,
the 41-year-old singer is also hoping to release a diet book by the end of the
year.
"It takes you through those moments in my life up 'til
now and what worked for me. And hopefully within that, if it doesn't work for
them, maybe they'll find something that does work for them and a nice place for
them to be content with who they are," she recently told Billboard
magazine.
For Mariah Carey, this is the first appearance on “Saturday
Night Live” in nearly a decade. Last time when she was on “Saturday Night Live”
was on November 15, 1997. According to People.com, Mariah Carey will perform songs
from her new album,“E=MC2”, which is due to be released on April 15. The first
single is “Touch My Body,” written with C. “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, which
debuted on New York
radio station Z100.
Mariah’s album gathers names like Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp,
Stargate, Will.I.Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate “Danjahandz” Hills and James
Poyser. “E=MC2” is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio “LA” Reid,
Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
This week Mariah's "Touch My Body" video made a
tremendous jump from #29 to #1 on the Yahoo Music Video Chart.
