Sad news struck the quiet suburbs of Wisteria Lane as the husband of actress Marcia Cross who plays Bree Van De Kamp on ABC’s hit show “Desperate Housewives” has been diagnosed with cancer.
According to the couple’s spokesperson Heidi Slan, Tom Mahoney "is currently under treatment and is responding very well." It is unknown what type of cancer he is battling. The confirmation came after Mahoney, a stockbroker, appeared to have lost a lot of his hair recently, probably due to chemotherapy.
Other than that, the 50-year-old was spotted looking upbeat as he was leaving a Santa Monica hospital strolling through the car park with his 46-year-old wife.
The pair, who are parents to 23-month-old twin daughters Eden and Savannah, began dating in early 2005. They got married in June 2006 at the Church of Our Savior in San Gabriel, Calif., in front of 200 guests, including Cross' “Housewives” co-stars Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman.
The actress was never shy crediting her hubby for making her feel happy and complete.
“I'm thrilled that I met someone that I want to spend the rest of my life with,” Cross said shortly before their marriage.
Soon after their wedding, Cross, who is often photographed playing with her daughters in the park, spoke about how happy her husband makes her: “I think that beauty comes from being happy and connected to the people we love. And his love makes me feel beautiful.”
The news of Mahoney’s disease is even more tragic as the actress previously nursed long-term partner, actor Richard Jordan while he was suffering from a brain tumor until his death in 1993.
