A man driving a vehicle crashed in a Chicago TV studio on
Sunday just after the station ended their newscast at 10 p.m.
Police were questioning the 25-year-old
Evanston man that burst into the studio of the WLS-Ch 7 at
190 N. State St. No one was injured, the Associated Press informs.
After 10 p.m.
weekend anchor Ravi Baichwal was startled by a loud noise that was heard inside
the studio and on the air.
According to Officer David Banks, a police spokesman, the
investigation was still on. He also said that it wasn’t clear why the driver if
the Mazda MPV with Indiana
license crashed into the TV station’ glass wall, Fox News reports.
Chicago Police
Sgt. Darien Easterday said that the driver wasn’t injured due to the thick glass
which is also bullet-proof.
Emily Barr, ABC 7 President and General Manager said that this
incident might have been deliberate, but there was no way to check it.
Many people saw the scene as they were watching the newscast
at that time. They’ve said that the driver made a lot of U-turns on State
Street before he hit the glass wall.
The man was charged with reckless driving and for driving a
car without insurance.
The studio was ready to go in for the 5 a.m. newscast.
About 3:30 a.m.
the car was towed away, according to Chicago Tribune.
