Public relations specialists and
marketers simply love Christmas! We all like gifts, snow and singing carols,
but for the big companies of the world Christmas is much more than joy and
singing. The winter holiday season is the most important commercial period of
the year and every company tries to do its best in making its customers feel
special.
So, although Christmas is about
gadgets, toys, chocolate bars, and lots of food and companies try to
sell as much as they can with this occasion, it seems that even advertising
agencies started to use this holiday to advertise… themselves. For example, a Durham advertising agency called McKinney will surely put itself forward
thanks to a strange, though funny idea.
Ben Eckerson, one of McKinney’s broadcast
producers, has decided to both break a world record and to advertise for his
agency by spending some time inside a giant inflatable snow globe. Eckerson was
transformed in his company’s living Christmas card, and he even seems to enjoy
it. “I love the holidays” and “I love being able to say hi to people,” said McKinney’s 24-year-old
creative employee.
The young man has been sitting
inside the snow globe since Friday morning and his funny adventure is being
shown live, 24/24, through a web cam at www.nowglobeboy.mckinney.com
The so-called Snow Globe Boy said he hoped to set a world record, but also to
spread some holiday cheer.
Eckerson is allowed to spend less
than an hour per day outside his tinny holiday home; during a 51-minute break
he must take care of personal needs, such as showering or changing clothes.
While living in the snow globe,
Ben Eckerson entertains himself by playing with his laptop and by chatting with
his fans. “Everybody is online, they're chatting and telling me, 'You bring a
great smile to my face on the holidays,' and, 'Great way to celebrate the
holidays. We love what you're doing,' so I think it's a great thing. I'm just
happy to be a part of it," said Eckerson.
Fortunately, McKinney’s devoted employee will come out
from the snow globe for spending Christmas alongside family and friends.
