Dina Lohan, mother and manager of actress Lindsay Lohan,
sure likes the spotlight. Lucky for her she’s still got kids whose careers to
promote, this time around on her own reality TV show.
Dina Lohan and her youngest daughter, 14-year-old Ali Lohan,
will star in “Living Lohan,” a reality television series that will debut on E!
this summer. The show will revolve around the mother-daughter, manager-budding
actress/singer duo as Ali tries to embark on a career of her own, the cable
network has announced.
Ali has already confessed that seeing her sister rise to
fame (and notoriety?) made her hungry for success as well. Dina is being
praised by the show’s producers as “an incredibly hard-working, passionate mom”
that viewers will find “both relatable and highly entertaining.”
Lisa Berger, Executive VP of Series Development at E!, who
made the above comments, also said: “This is a family that knows how to roll
with the punches and come out on top.”
The series has already begun shooting; while it mainly shows
the family at their Long Island home, it will also chronicle Ali’s trip to Las Vegas’ Palms Casino
recording studio, where she intends to start work on a possible solo album for
Interscope Records, E! Online reports.
A new round of filming begins on March 17 in New York, People.com reports, followed by another
two-week period in Las Vegas
where Ali will do more studio work.
The other Lohan siblings, brothers Cody and Michael, will
also appear in the show; 11-year-old Cody is passionate about sports rather
than entertainment while 20-year-old Michael is preparing to go to college.
Ali told the April issue of Teen Vogue that celebrity cannot
come soon enough for her and that she is excited about the upcoming show.” I
want it so bad. So bad you don't even know. And now, it's actually happening,”
she confessed.
“I grew up watching Lindsay, and it made me want to do what
she does,” Ali told the mag. “Just the whole vibe. Being there, being on
camera, or onstage, with everybody listening to you… it's so cool when people
look up to you.
“I've already been asked for my autograph, and it's just a
really good feeling to have,” the 14-year-old said.
Ali was reportedly present when Lindsay Lohan, 21, made the
now famous Marilyn Monroe photo shoot recreation. New York magazine revealed last month Lindsay’s
remake of The Last Sitting, Monroe’s last photo shoot before her untimely death
in 1962, with veteran photographer Bert Stern.
The ample reaction to the nude portraits was mixed, with
many calling it distasteful. Dina Lohan replied at the time that she looked at
the photos as “art;” she told People magazine that her oldest daughter had been
“in character” and argued that she would not have allowed Ali on the set had it
not been serious business.
Yup, Mama Lohan has everything under control.
