The United States have been experiencing a lot of problems related to shootings in recent years. Given the right to own a firearm, many citizens own guns of different calibers and purposes, such as hunting riffles. The most worrisome problem is the growing number of school shootings, bigger than in another country. Opening fire in an institution such a college, which houses copious amounts of people during working hours, will result in a soaring number of casualties. Other places which are just as packed are shopping malls, which are sure to be full almost permanently.
On Saturday evening, a shooting occurred at a shopping centre in Tukwila, Washington. The shooter has yet to be apprehended, according to the police spokesman. He also assured everybody that the police were out on the streets, still looking for the perpetrator.
One person died in the shooting and another was injured. Except for these two victims, two more people were taken to hospital that night – a woman about to go into labor and a man with a neck injury.
The people injured as a result of the shooting were taken from the scene of the crime to Harborview Medical Center. According to an eyewitness, there seemed to have been a fight between two groups of 20-year-olds. The argument ended abruptly after one of them pulled out a gun and opened fire. The shopping centre was closed so the SWAT teams could search it top to bottom for the shooter. Two people were taken into custody, but neither of them was the shooter. According to the witnesses, the shooter fired around 6 or 7 shots in total. The police investigation continues, according to Mike Murphy, the police spokesman.
