Make Yourself Comfortable With Some Zune Wi-Fi And A Big Mac

If you ever feel like combining a Big Mac and some wireless streaming, McDonald's is the place to be, a recent announcement from Microsoft suggests. As it appears, Microsoft revealed a new software update for Zune that will allow users to wirelessly stream or download music from the Zune Marketplace in over 9,800 McDonald's restaurants across the country.

From now on, users downloading the free software will get to access music on the go, and do everything from streaming, to downloading, tagging and purchasing songs from the built-in FM radio of their Zune music player. The new service comes with the support of high-speed Internet access provider Wayport Inc.

“Our ability to enable and manage applications and devices over converged networks creates exciting new opportunities for our clients to attract new customers whose digital lifestyle extends beyond their home and office,” said Dan Lowden, vice president of business development and marketing at Wayport.

In addition to that, Microsoft announced that Zune Marketplace will offer special editorial features such as the Zune School Music Masters Program and the Xbox Gamer Central pages. Overall, Zune Marketplace comes with over 4 million songs, 80 percent of which are DRM-free MP3s, 8,500 music videos, 3,000 episodes of popular TV shows and over 6,000 audio and video podcasts.

For subscribers, Microsoft offers the possibility to download or stream music from their Zune or computer interchangeably, all for $14.99 a month. In addition to that, Zune also comes with audiobook content, with over 50,000 books, magazines and newspapers from over 600 publishers.
