Magic End Warriors’ Winning Streak

The Orlando Magic recorded a 123-117 overtime road victory over Golden State to end the Warriors’ winning streak right at the Oracle Arena.

Orlando’s starting guards - Jameer Nelson and Keith Bogans - led the team in scoring as they each had 22 points and five other Magic players finished the game with double figures to assure a difficult, overtime victory.

Nelson was a key factor in this win as he not only poured the 22 points over the Warriors, but he also got his team mates involved an finished the game with 11 assists as the Magic improved their NBA-best road record to 11-2.

Dwight Howard was once again in a great shape as he scored 18 and grabbed 21 rebounds. Rashad Lewis added 20 points, and Hedo Turkoglu contributed 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

"I told them tonight that I was impressed," said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, whose team finished 4-1 on their exhausting nine-day road trip.

"I told them before the game, if we win here tonight against the hottest team, it would be the best win of the year," he added.

For the Golden State Warriors(9-8), Stephen Jackson scored all 25 of his points in the second half and overtime, Monta Ellis, Al Harrington and Andris Biedrins all recorded double-doubles and Baron Davis scored 19 points and had nine assists to go with that, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Magic.

"It was a great game," Warriors coach Don Nelson said. "We gave it everything we had and came up a little short. Bottom line is this is one of the best teams we've played and they deserved to win."
