Madonna’s New Album Called ‘Licorice’

The pop singer’s final Warner Bros. studio album due in April next year will be called "Licorice."

Fans got a taste of Madonna’s latest album on former Billboard editor Larry Flick's Sirius Satellite Radio show "OutQ" yesterday when Flick announced the title and also played two songs from the album, "Candy Shop" and "The Beat Goes On." Both cuts leaked online earlier this year.

However, Warner Bros released a statement immediately denying the show’s report on the album, saying "Sirius does not know what they are talking about," spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg was quoted by Reuters. "Wrong title. Release date wrong etc."

According to fan site Drowned Madonna, the album was supposedly titled "Give It To Me," as revealed during a listening sessions they attended. The pop icon reportedly previewed some of the tracks from the album to a select group of listeners at the Warner offices last week.

This is Madonna’s first album since her 2005 “Confessions on a Dancefloor,” and will reportedly include 13 tracks. Known track titles for "Licorice" include "Off the Hook," "4 Minutes to Save the World," "Dance Tonight," "Even the Devil Wouldn't Recognize You," "Across the Sky," "Candy Shop," "The Beat Goes On," and "La, La."

Madonna is rumored to have collaborated with rappers Kanye West and Pharrell Williams for some of the songs, as well as Timbaland, fueling speculation that the album will be heavily influenced by hip-hop.

Drowned Madonna revealed some details about another track called "Miles Away" which it said was "dance and acoustic someway at the same time", adding: "Madonna has a lot of harmonies on it. Her voice sounds great."

"It’s her best CD," husband Guy Ritchie said at the Revolver premiere. "And I’m not just saying that. Well, I am just saying it, but I also mean it."

All  Madonna’s future releases will be under Live Nation label, which is set to handle everything related to her, from album releases to tours, merchandising and film projects.

"My time with Warner Bros. Records has been great," Madonna said a while back when she announced her departure from Warner Bros. "I appreciate their hard work and value the many relationships I have developed over the years with the label in the U.S. and around the world. I have an album coming out with them next year and I'm excited about it. We still have work to do together."

In other Madonna-related news, the singer filed a lawsuit against her Central Park West building’s co-op board, charging that it wrongfully blocked her from buying a neighbor’s apartment.
