Rumors that her marriage to English director Guy Ritchie is currently under strain have reached Madonna’s ears and she says they are absolutely not true – “Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married,” a statement issued Monday professes.

Madonna’s recent public appearances have been notably Guy Ritchie-free, prompting many to speculate whether the couple’s marriage had run its course. The pop icon responded to the rumors on Monday, through a statement issued by her publicist Liz Rosenberg.

“I am delighted to confirm that Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married,” Rosenberg said.

She went on to explain that the reason the two spouses have not been seen in public together lately is that they have been living in separate countries, each focusing on their own projects.

The Material Mom has been busy promoting her new album in the U. S., while Ritchie has been finishing postproduction on his new film “RocknRolla” in the U. K., filming a Nike commercial and “working on several scripts.”

“The family are joyfully back together at home in London” though, Rosenberg concluded. “All is well and wonderful in the Ritchie household.”

Madonna, 49, and Ritchie, 39, are parents to three children: Lourdes, 11, Rocco, 7, and David, 2 and a half, a Malawian boy they wish to adopt.

The question marks regarding their relationship became prominent when Madonna hosted a United Nations fundraiser in early February, packed full of celebrities supporting her charity Raising Malawi, but with Ritchie nowhere in sight. She was however accompanied by Lourdes.

Earlier this month, Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but her husband once again did not make an appearance.

The pop icon is currently promoting her new album, whose name has been revealed as “Hard Candy,” a playful juxtaposition of the notions “sweet” and “hard.” Madonna worked on “Hard Candy,” which stands as her eleventh studio album, with Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Pharrell Williams. It is due to be released on April 28 in Europe and April 29 in North America.
