Givenchy spokeswoman Caroline Deroche-Pasquier said Tuesday
that Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy created two concert outfits for Madonna’s
upcoming world tour "Sticky & Sweet.” "I feel incredibly fortunate
to have been given the opportunity to offer the world of Givenchy Haute Couture
to Madonna the Icon, the Artist, the Woman for whom I have so much respect and
admiration, " Tisci said in a press statement.
Other designers from the same label are also working on
outfits for the 49 year old’s world tour, but the spokeswoman refused to give
any names. The French fashion house will dress The
Queen of Pop and her dancers for the entire tour, which kicks off next month
in Cardiff, Wales,
on Aug. 23 with stops across Europe, including Berlin,
Rome, London and Paris, ending with North America.
Madonna has worked with French
designers before - Jean-Paul Gaultier was behind the 1990 "Blonde
Ambition" tour, while Dolce & Gabbana called the shots in 1993.
Givenchy talked about the first outfit as being "a
reference to 'Gangster Pimp' and Art Deco" and about the second he
explained details about it being "a Gypsy inspiration". It appears
that the first outfit that Tisci created for her is a dark gothic coat dress in
black stretch satin trimmed with pleated black silk organza embroidered with
jet beads. The second one is more “gypsy” like, a long-hooded cape in black
silk taffeta embroidered with jet stones and a dress with multicolored ribbons
and fuchsia colored metal chains.
It is not yet known if other fashion labels are also
involved in creating Madonna’s image for her next tour.
