Madonna is back in the news. No divorce rumors, no extra
marital affairs, no talking about her brother’s book. This time we see a generous
Madonna who goes back to her home town in order to introduce her documentary
about orphans in Malawi.
According to E! Online, the 49-year-old singer came back to Michigan Saturday to
share her documentary called “I Am Because We Are” at the Traverse City Film Festival.
She very much enjoyed the visit, saying that it was great to bring her movie to
a familiar place.
“It's great bringing my movie to a place that I feel
familiar,” said Madonna, adding that this festival was different from the Cannes
Festival or the Tribeca Film Festival. The pop icon remembered fondly of
camping trips and holidays, that always used to bring her back home.
“There's something poetic about coming back to the place
where I used to come for holidays—camping trips with my dad and stepmother and
my very large family,” said Madonna, according to E! Online.
The Traverse City Film Festival hosted independent films and
it was cofounded by Michael Moore, also from Michigan. He spoke highly of Madonna.
“She has such an incredible heart and such a generous spirit.
She does so much out of the glare of the lights to make the world a better
place.”
Madonna produced, wrote and narrated the documentary “I Am Because
We Are,” a film which describes the problem of the orphans from Malawi, the
country where the singer and her husband Guy Ritchie adopted a boy David.
Madonna, who was born in Bay City
in 1958, was accompanied by her daughter Lourdes,
11, and the film’s director Nathan Rissman. Also present were Madonna’s father
Silvio Ciccone and stepmother Joan. Her husband Guy Ritchie was not with her.
