This edition of the US TV Critics' Awards belonged to the TV drama series 'Mad Men,' which is created by the cable channel AMC. Other stars of the night were comedy series '30 Rock' and the classic 'The Wire.'
'Mad Men' is a drama set in an advertising agency in the 60s that is considered to be one of the most prestigious ones in New York. Most of the action revolves around one of the agency's most talented directors, the mysterious Donald Draper.
The show managed to sweep the awards for Program of the Year, Outstanding New Program and Outstanding Achievement in Drama. The awards are of extreme importance to AMC, whose programs have never before won the cable channel anything at the US TV Critics' Awards.
The comedy series '30 Rock' won two awards. The creator and lead actress of the show, Tina Fey, received the award for Individual Achievement in Comedy. The other award that the series won was the Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.
According to the Washington Post, Tina Fey, who delivered a very nice speech when receiving the award, jokingly commented upon her being the only NBC representative of the show saying that the cable channel is too broke to afford to sent another colleague with her.
The Heritage award went to the classic series 'The Wire.' The award is given each year to a show that proved to have an impact of certain importance upon the national culture during its years of running on television. However this was the only award for 'The Wire' at this year's edition of TCA, and the last one the show will win, taking into account that it has been discontinued.
