Macaulay Culkin’s older sister, Dakota Culkin, died
Wednesday at UCLA hospital from injuries suffered after she stepped in front of
a car.
Dakota Culkin, the 29-year-old sister of child star Macaulay
Culkin, was walking on Los Angeles’
Westside on Tuesday night when she stepped off a curb and into the street and
was struck by a car.
Culkin was taken to the UCLA Medical
Center with massive head
trauma, according to LAPD spokesperson Richard French. She died Wednesday from
her head injuries.
French said the driver stopped and tried to help the woman. He identified
himself as required by law and was found not to be under the influence of drugs
or alcohol. There is no active criminal investigation.
Macaulay Culkin’s representative, Michelle Bega, said it was
a “terrible tragic accident” and that the family asked for privacy from the
media. No further comments were made.
“Home Alone” actor Macaulay Culkin, one of the most famous
child stars in the world by the age of 10, has five other siblings: brothers
Shane, 32, Kieran, 26, Quinn, 24, Christian, 21, and sister Rory, 19.
He is unfortunately the third actor to suffer the loss of a
family member in violent circumstances over the past two months, following the
slayings of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew in October and the death
of Mark Ruffalo’s brother earlier this week during what appeared to be a game
of Russian roulette.
