Grammy- and Oscar-nominated rapper M.I.A has announced on her MySpace blog that she had delivered a baby boy, adding in the Saturday posting that her child was healthy and beautiful, the most amazing thing on the entire planet.

The father of M.I.A’s baby is her fiance musician Benjamin Bronfman, yet a representative for the couple has refused to disclose the child’s name for the time being.

Last Sunday at the Grammy Awards ceremony, the singer offered a dazzling performance alongside fellow rappers Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne.

M.I.A announced that she had gone into labor only a few hours after the above-mentioned event.

British songwriter, record producer, vocalist and artist M.I.A, 31, rose to fame in early 2004 by having file-shared two of her singles, „Galang” and „Sunshowers” on the web.

One year later, she released her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album „Arular,” while in 2007, her second work, entitled „Kala,” saw the light of day and also managed to put M.I.A. on the map as a mainstream rapper.

In addition to her singing career, M.I.A works as a graphic designer, as well,  providing artwork and photography for releases, and as a director of music videos, whereas she has also dipped her toe in the documentary film pool last year and she has put forward a collection of her fashion designs.
