The man claiming to be friend and manager to pop singer
Britney Spears, Sam Lutfi, has agreed to have the temporary restraining order
forbidding him from contacting Britney extended for another 30 days.
Sam Lutfi’s spokesman has confirmed that the former manager
of Britney Spears has agreed to stay away from the singer for another 30 days.
The restraining order against Lutfi was placed in late February and was to
expire Monday, March 17.
Lutfi agreed to stay away from Britney for an additional 30
days, thus avoiding a courtroom confrontation with the singer’s parents, People
magazine reports on its website.
Father Jamie Spears is Britney’s co-conservator thru July
31. Mother Lynne Spears made heartbreaking allegations against Lutfi in
documents seeking the restraining order, claiming he had attempted to gain
control over her daughter by putting medicine in her food and isolating her
from the outside world.
The temporary restraining order against Lutfi could be
extended to five years or it could even be made permanent, according to media
reports.
“There is an agreement between Sam Lutfi and the
conservatorship for the next 30 days,” Lutfi spokesman Michael Sands said
Sunday, as quoted by the Associated Press. “Both parties are happy and will
continue to work together to further resolve any issues that may have come up
in the past.”
A judge is expected to approve the agreement Monday.
In February, a Los
Angeles judge ordered Lutfi not go within 250 yards of
the 26-year-old mother of two and her home, as well as the homes of her family
members. He is not allowed to contact her in any way.
Later that month, Los
Angeles police said they were looking into allegations
that someone drugged Britney but a decision regarding a formal investigation
had not been made yet.
Police Capt. Kyle Jackson said in a statement that the
allegations “are being considered” by the Robbery-Homicide unit to determine if
laws have been violated.
Lynne Spears’ request for a restraining order against Lutfi
included allegations that he had moved into her daughter’s home, “purporting to
take control of her life, home and finances.”
“Mr. Lutfi drugged Britney, he has cut Britney's home phone
lines and removed her cell phone chargers. He yells at her. He claims to
control everything—Britney's business manager, her attorneys and the security
guards at the gate,” Lynne declared.
Lynne also described how Lutfi appeared have control over
paparazzi in Britney’s house, allowing them inside, giving orders etc. She also
portrayed him as being verbally and emotionally abusive towards the young
mother of two.
