Kanye West should get prepared for welcoming a new figure in his studio.
Anoop Desai, a contestant on Fox’s popular singing competition “American Idol,” wishes to meet the well-known artist and negotiate an eventual collaboration as soon as Kanye West makes his first apperance on the top-rated talent show in order to perform his famous hit “Heartless” on Wednesday’s elimination episode.
During this weekend’s wild card round, Anoop Desai obtained the last spot in the finals, becoming the first contestant to snag the lucky No. 13. Up to now, the panel only selected 12 finalists.
The 22-year-old popular college student from Chapel Hill, N.C., would actually be pleased about singing suggestions from Kanye West.
“I’m definitely going to pick his brain — we’ll see if he has anything to lend me too,” joked Anoop Desai, who enjoys R&B music and entertained “American Idol” fans with his rendition of Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative,” as cited by The Associated Press.
Anoop Desai also expressed his willing to collaborate with rapper Ludacris and said he would be overwhelmed by a possible return of Stevie Wonder on the show as a celebrity guide.
The contestant joined fellow wild card finalists Jasmine Murray, Megan Corkrey and Matt Giraud during a teleconference with reporters on Friday.
The other finalists, which have been selected by TV viewers, are Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Scott MacIntyre, Jorge Nunez, Lil Rounds and Michael Sarver.
The show’s next round is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, while one contestant will be sent home each Wednesday.
