Herman Rosenblat had to release a memoir based on his experience during the Holocaust in February. Yet, the man admitted that everything he had written in the book was fake and thus his publisher canceled the release of the book.
Rosenblat wrote in the book that he had met his wife during the time he had been a child imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp. Apparently, she used to be disguised as a Christian farm girl who threw him apples over the fence. After that, Rosenblat added that they had met on a blind date 12 years after the war in Coney Island and, like every story with a happy ending, they got married and lived happily until the time being, when they have celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Rosenblat and his wife, Roma Radzicki Rosenblat, were invited to Oprah Winfrey’s show twice and she said that their love story is the single greatest romance she had encountered in her 22 years since she hosted the show.
Yet, on Saturday night Rosenblat’s agent announced the Berkley Books that the story of the book is fake. In addition to this, the unit of Penguin Group which planned to release “Angel at the Fence,” canceled the book and asked Rosenblat to return the advance amount of money.
But Harris Salomon, who is making a film based on this story, said that he won’t give up his production and that it will be a work of fiction. He added that Rosenblat has already agreed that all the money earned by the movie would be donated to Holocaust survivors’ charities.
