‘Lost’ Star’s Not Guilty Plea To DUI

Actor Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon on ABC’s Island drama "Lost," had his first court appearance on Friday and placed a preliminary plea of not guilty on driving under the influence charges requesting a trial date.

The 39-year-old actor was arrested late last month in Honolulu, Hawaii, when police officers pulled him over for driving his car erratically. He had a blood-alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit. Kim was arrested and transported to a local police station before being released on a $500 bail.

The actor, who did not attend today’s hearing, had his license revoked for six months Ronald Sakata, chief adjudicator for the Administrative Driver's License Revocation Office, said.

The actor is due to return to court Feb. 15. If he doesn't work out a plea deal and is convicted of the charge, he would face a mandatory 14-hour substance-abuse rehab program and a fine of up to $1,000, in addition to the six-month loss of driving privileges.

His lawyer, Patrick McPherson said outside the court that Kim is still very sorry about what happened, as Kim himself acknowledged in the apology he issued following the incident.

"I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by my actions of Thursday morning. It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home," Kim said in a statement at that time.

Kim is not the first "Lost" cast member to go through the DUI experience. In December 2005, Michelle Rodriguez, who played the tough police officer Ana Lucia, and Cynthia Watros, who played Libby, were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Kailua, Hawaii after police officers spotted their cars tottering along Pali Highway. They both pled guilty to the charges.
