As ABC’s island drama returns for its fifth season, “Lost” junkies should be warned that more mind-boggling situations will follow in tonight’s episode adding to the endless puzzle in the making.
As you might remember, we were left wondering for the past eight months about the island’s mysterious disappearance, which many claim is time travel related, and John Locke’s apparent death.
The final images of the last episode showed the charismatic evil genius Ben Linus turn the switch hidden in a room below the unfamiliar Dharma Orchid Station followed by a blinding light as we witness the island vanish together with Sawyer, Juliet and Locke while Jack Shepard and the rest of the Oceanic Six, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Aaron (Claire’s baby) attempt to return to island only to see it turn into thin air.
But leading to that were four seasons of bizarre happenings, romances, murders, kidnappings and attempts to escape an island where a bunch of people mysteriously survived a plane crash.
It’s really hard to get around the story in tonight’s episode without giving away any spoilers, but maybe for the real Losties, it will all be a confirmation of their longtime speculations.
The major issues that will be addressed in the two-hour premiere tonight include Ben’s real reasons for rounding up the Oceanic 6 and get them back on the island and the island’s power source, while Locke will find out a horrible truth about himself. Hurley will have his 15 minutes of fame as he’ll rush through a series of confessions, possibly explaining what his numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 mean.
