"Lost" fans have been waiting for eight long months for a new episode of their favorite series, “Lost,” therefore last night's fifth season premiere on ABC was a great opportunity to celebrate. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse showed understanding for certain fans of the series who might feel as dislodged as the inhabitants of the mysterious island.
This new season comes with a few surprises. Josh Holloway's character, Sawyer received less screen time last year as the off-island story of the "Oceanic 6" played out. Lindelof said that Sawyer is the perfect character for a stand-in for audience members confused by the recent turn of events.
The two other lead characters with reduced screen time are Jin, embodied by Daniel Dae Kim, who is assumed to be dead and Mia Claire, played by Emilie de Ravin. Jin is the one who will be making a significant reappearance this season. On the other hand, fans will be able to see more of Claire starting next season, because her story seems to be far from over.
Loyal viewers of “Lost” were promised payoff by producer Carlton Cuse, developing the story in a way that will reveal a lot of great new things about the island’s history. As for early fans, well, producers think that it would be quite impossible for them to catch up with the story at this particular level. But....they are more than welcomed to try though.
Knowing that there are only two seasons left, producers can also anticipate with confidence the number of episodes they have to work on. The biggest mystery left on "Lost" is how the writers will tie everything up from here.
