Logitech has unveiled a new bluetooth keyboard specially designed for Mac computers. The new diNovo Edge Mac is one of the most fancy keyboards around, but its high price and the fact that Apple's own peripherals are beautifully designed themselves, make experts wonder if it will have the success that Logitech anticipates.
The new keyboard comes with glossy semi-translucent Plexiglas frames, and is only half-inch thin. It has soft-orange backlighting and aluminum palm rests.
As far as functionality is concerned, the diNovo Edge Mac features Mac specific keys like disc eject, Control and Option. It also comes with a component called TouchDisc that can be used in a similar way to a laptop's touch pad. Moving ones finger across the TouchDisc will move the cursor on the screen, while moving the finger across the perimeter will scroll up and down on the page you are viewing.
Two cool things about the new keyboard are the PerfectStroke key system, which provides better comfort while using the diNovo Edge Mac, and the charging base. Logitech says that charging the keyboard for four hours will guarantee that it will work for a month, while a 10-minute charge provides enough power for a day.
According to Fox News, Denis Pavillard, Logitech's vice president for product marketing, said that “We're truly delighted to offer discerning Mac enthusiasts our highest quality in keyboard design and performance. From the piano-black finish to its built-in TouchDisc touch pad, the diNovo Edge can make it a pleasure for you to type, control music or launch your favorite applications.”
People who want to purchase the keyboard will have to scoop up about $150, or, at least, this is the price the company recommends to its retailers.
