Major peripheral-device manufacturer Logitech unveiled today (Thursday) the Squeezebox Boom network music player. The high-end device features an integrated amplifier, built-in high speakers of high performance just as the Swiss producer accustomed its buyers with, the 802.11g wireless streaming, a simpler setup and dual internal antennas.
Now you won’t have to carry the music you’d like to listen to from one room to another using a flash or the whole PC. Logitech makes things easier for you with the Squeezebox Boom "all-in-one network player."
Robin Selden, Logitech's Streaming Media business unit manager, described the new device as “the CD player of the 21st century…an entirely new type of network music player.”
The Squeezebox Boom doesn’t require any other audio gear, wires or external speakers. The only thing you have to do is plug it in a power outlet. Using the home wireless network, one can play the music, radio stations and other services even when the computer is turned off.
The Squeezebox Boom is also Macintosh-compatible and automatically detects existing wireless networks. The device is also Rhapsody, Pandora, Slacker, and Sirius-friendly.
It comes with an all-digital 30-watt amplifier, two 3/4-inch, high-definition tweeters and two 3-inch, high-power woofers. If you are an extra bass fan, Squeezebox Boom comes with a subwoofer connection and if you want to enjoy your favorite songs in private, the device has a 3.5 mm jack for your headphones.
The Squeezebox Boom hits the market next month and will cost $300.
