The search is on for the nine-year-old girl who went missing
Tuesday afternoon.
Shannon Matthews was declared missing Tuesday night after
she didn’t return home after she got off the bus at her school.
Shannon, from Moorside
Road, Dewsbury Moor, West
Yorkshire, was last seen at 3:10 p.m. after she arrived at school from
a swimming trip.
Search teams spent Tuesday night searching for the girl at
freezing temperatures and on Wednesday they were joined by local people who
searched gardens, parks and buildings.
Neighbors and relatives have sworn that they will continue
to search for her.
On Thursday morning her uncle Neil Hyett said that even though
the residents were exhausted they are determined to continue the search.
He said: “More than 100 people took part in a search last
night. Some were searching throughout the night, right through into the early
hours. It was a terrific response," the Press Association reports.
Regarding how her mother and father are handling the situation
he said:
"They're bearing up but they're obviously extremely
worried still ... If anyone has any information at all then please pick up the
phone and tell the police."
Shannon’s mother, Karen,
spoke for the first time Wednesday night and begged for her daughter to come
home.
"Shannon, you are a princess
in every way, come home. I'm begging you baby, please come home," she said
weeping.
"Shannon, you are not
in trouble, darling, please come home."
"This is the first time Shannon
you've done it, we don't know why baby, but we love you," she said.
Karen added that anyone who has her daughter to bring her
home, and that if she is hurt in any way they will love her better.
She said: "Me and her dad are missing her so much. Her
little sister and brother [are] going out of their mind, they just want their
big sister home safe," BBC News informs.
