Liza Minnelli’s admirers will have the
chance to see and listen to the music of their favourite actress and singer when
the diva will return to Broadway in December. Liza Minnelli will play a
two-week concert engagement, “Liza at the Place,” which will run from Dec. 3-14,
producer John Scher announced Sunday.

Presents & Jubilee Time Productions, directed and choreographed by Ron
Lewis, the concert will include many of Liza’s personal favourites and
signature hits, as well as a dance-filled tribute to KayThomson, Minnelli’s
grandmother and an entertainer, best known for appearing in the film “Funny
Face” and for writing the children’s book “Eloise at the Plaza.” Liza Minneli will
appear with a quartet of men and perform songs like “I Love a Violin,” “Clap Yo’ Hands,”
“Jubilee Time” and “Hello Hello.” Accompanying
her on stage will be Cortés Alexander, Jim Caruso, Tiger Martina and Johny
Rodgers.
Minnelli will be accompanied by a twelve-man
orchestra led by conductor Michael Berkowitz and pianist Billy Strich.
The evening will feature hits like “Cabaret,”
her signature-song “New York,
New York,” “Maybe This Time,”
songs written especially for her by the Broadway song-writing team of John
Kander and Fred Ebb.
In 1972, Liza Minnelli won an Academy Award
for Best Actress for her role in Cabaret. Apart from her Academy Award, she
also won an Emmy Award, three Tony Awards, a 1989 Grammy Legend Award, and two
Golden Globe Awards. Liza Minnelli is the only winner of an Academy Award whose
parents were both winners of it as well.
