Lisa Marie Presley and husband Michael Lockwood welcomed
twin girls last Tuesday at a Los
Angeles hospital, mommy and babies are healthy and
resting at home…and that’s about it, folks.
The couple announced only days later that they had added to
their family. Michael Lockwood, a guitarist and music producer, is Lisa Marie
Presley’s fourth husband. They were wedded in 2006 in Japan.
The twins girls, who weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and 5
pounds, 2 ounces, respectively, join teenage siblings Danielle Riley, 19, and Benjamin
Storm, 15, from Presley’s first marriage to musician Danny Keough.
She has also been married to Michael Jackson and Nicolas
Cage.
Lisa Marie Presley, 40, first revealed she was pregnant in
March, but in dire conditions. A British tabloid had published unflattering
photographs of her complete with comments that she inherited her father’s
unhealthy appetite.
After several other publication picked up on the report and
republished the photos, Presley addressed the speculation, writing on her
MySpace blog that she was “in fact” pregnant. She called reporters a pack of
hyenas circling their prey and complained that the attacks had been vicious and
without merit.
She also filed a libel lawsuit and the British tabloid
subsequently issued an apology to the singer.
Then again, Lisa Marie Presley is well accustomed to being
in the center of the attention. She was famous before being born, the only
child to The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, and his wife, actress
Priscilla Presley.
This spring’s unfortunate episode is well behind her now, as
she and the twin baby girls are now “healthy and happy” and resting at their Los Angeles home.
The twins are the first children for Presley, 40, and Lockwood,
46. When Presley first revealed she was pregnant, she only said she was
expecting a child and that she considered herself lucky for this, at her age.
It was only in August that the world learned she was
expecting twins, when Priscilla Presley shared the news with Entertainment
Tonight.
