Linksys Launched New, Cheaper Products

Linksys admitted it was disappointed by the low sales rates when it came to 802.11n products, but the company hasn’t lost hope yet. Linksys managed to create new, cheaper products, which are now going to be presented to the interested ones during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

At this year’s CES Linksys will launch a new line of Wireless-N products, as well as a new configuration utility, which is to provide additional services over the already existing ones.

The company’s new WRT310N and WRT160N 802.11n home gateway routers feature a sleek new look, as well as internal antennas. Excepting this change of look, the two routers prove to be quite powerful, taking into account that they both are Wireless-N routers, running solely in the 2.4 GHz band.

The WRT310N router has three internal antennas and carries a four-port gigabit switch, while the WRT160N has only two internal antennas and four-port 10/100 switch. However, the both products carry Linksys’ full home Internet gateway software package (router, SPI firewall, basic parental controls etc.).

Linksys is likely to be very successful with these new products because they are reportedly fast enough, they look better than ever and especially because they come along with the new EasyLink Advisor software that now makes Linksys wireless network configuration easier than before.

Linksys announced also a lineup of new Wireless-N network adapters, such as the Wireless-N Dual Band Gaming Adapter (WGA600N), the Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Notebook Adapter (WUSB600N) and the Wireless-N ExpressCard Adapter (WEC600N).

Overall, according to analysts, Linksys’ CES Wireless-N announcements prove the industry’s definitive desire to see more Wireless-N upgrades to current Linksys products.
