Linkedin Continues To Focus On Professionalism

Linkedin is a social network like no other mainly because it does not focus on frivolities but on business oriented functioning. The site was created in December 2002 and launched in May 2003, managing to attract many users.

According to its own data, Linkedin had in October 2008 30 million registered users which promoted approximately 150 industries. It is very important for people to understand that Linkedin is not Facebook or MySpace, which are approaching social networking in a more relaxed matter, but an opportunity for one to be truly noticed out of a crowd. Linkedin allows its users to search for candidates for jobs they offer, apply for different job interviews and, ultimately, find a better career perspective through the countless contacts Linkedin is offering.

Recently, the professional social networking site has announced the introduction of applications that can be used directly on the site. The application remain in the serious style the site is promoting, being extremely useful, making things easier for registered users.

Applications for Linkedin have been provided by Amazon, Google, Wordpress, Box.net and Tripit. The best way these applications can be described is through the meaning of the word “utility” as the newly introduced apps let users view PowerPoint presentations directly on the site, being able to share them with others or let users upload documents which can be managed directly from the site.

Wordpress allows Linkedin users to synchronize their blog posts with the account they have on the social networking site while Amazon lets users share the books they are currently reading. The updates Linkedin has made raises the bar for other social networking sites by showing what virtual socialization is really about.
