Dina Lohan, the ever-ready-to-comment mother of young starlet Lindsay Lohan, says her daughter’s recent nude photo shoot for a special issue of New York magazine was “very tastefully done,” People magazine reports.

Lindsay Lohan collaborated with photographer Bert Stern to recreate the famous Last Sitting, Marilyn Monroe’s final photo shoot before her tragic death in 1962. The photographs are nude portraits – Marilyn, already a legend at the time, was a mature woman of 36.

Epigone Lindsay is only 21 and doesn’t really appear to have found her spot on the Hollywood scene after last summer’s stint in rehab. The reenacted photo shoot graces the pages of the spring fashion issue of New York magazine.

Bert Stern, now in his 70s, photographed Marilyn with sheer scarves, some jewelry, a glass of champagne... and nothing else. Lindsay did the same and called the opportunity “really an honor,” confessing that she is a great fan of the “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” actress.

Dina Lohan, 45, who is also 21-year-old Lindsay’s manager, told People magazine Tuesday that the photo shoot was not like a Playboy spread for her, but rather like an artwork.

“It was very tastefully done,” Dina told People. “I respect the photographer as an artist, so I look at them artistically. For him to call Lindsay 46 years later and to say can you recreate these photos is an honor. I looked at it as art, and as Lindsay doing a character.

“I don't look at them like it's Playboy; she was being a character. So if you look at it that way, you can look at it as a mother.”

Dina added that the presence of her other daughter, 14-year-old Ali, on the set of the photographic project was further proof that it was serious business. “Obviously Lindsay wouldn't do anything with her sister there, that was risqué,” she told the mag.

Lindsay also has two younger brothers, Michael, 19, and Dakota, 12.

Her mother and father Michael, also a talkative type, divorced in August 2007. Dina said at the time that the children were going though a “healing process.”

While Lindsay does not seem to have any plans to appear in a movie in the near future, she is working on her third studio album. Mama Lohan told People: “I've heard a couple of tracks. They were amazing!”
