Lindsay Lohan’s wild days seem far and away. And nowadays,
when a public figure of authority describes her as someone who “has gone gay,”
the actress responds simply that it is “inappropriate.”
Lindsay Lohan had build a wild child/party girl reputation
for herself over the past couple of years, after a series of events which
culminated with arrests, probation, community service and rehab.
She has not been making headlines with such troublesome
events lately though. The latest attraction paparazzi have where Lindsay Lohan
is concerned is her relationship with Samantha Ronson.
Lohan and Ronson have so far made no public statement
regarding the state of their liaison: whether they are very close friends or a
couple. They have pleaded for privacy, to no avail though.
It all became even more interesting when Los Angeles Police
Chief William Bratton talked to KNBC-TV, commenting that the paparazzi are not
the serious problem they once were now that Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and
Lindsay Lohan lead quieter lives.
Britney Spears has “started wearing clothes,” Bratton said,
“Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God,” he added, “and
evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay,” he concluded cheerily.
Lindsay Lohan was approached by paparazzi once more Friday,
while at Los Angeles Airport,
and a video was posted on TMZ.com.
The 22-year-old’s reply to Bratton’s comments was short and
surprisingly polite, given the awkwardness of the situation. “Police chiefs
shouldn’t get involved in everyone else’s business when it comes to their
personal life. It’s inappropriate.”
Bratton had made those comments to explain why he did not
participate in a special meeting organized by Los Angeles City Councilman
Dennis Zine to address the necessity of new laws which prevent the paparazzi
from pursuing celebrities.
Actor Eric Roberts and John Mayer took part but Bratton
called the meeting a “complete waste of time,” arguing that paparazzi’s
activity is already efficiently regulated by existing laws and that celebrities
themselves create troublesome situations.
In remarks subsequent to his comments to KNBC-TV, Bratton
said his sister is gay and that he is very supportive of gay rights.
