Lindsay Lohan has been sued for assault and battery. Three men filed suit and accused Lohan of jumping behind the steering wheel of the SUV they were in and taking them on a crazy ride as she was following her recently-fired assistant along Malibu's Pacific Coast Highway.
The three men said Lohan was intoxicated. The scene happened after a private party last year. After the DUI chase, Lohan was arrested and served 84 minutes in prison after she admitted that she was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Lohan later pleaded no contest to related charges and entered rehab.
Lohan was "angry and aggressive" and the men "felt surprise, shock, fear and panic at Lohan's surprising and sudden act" of allegedly commandeering a car in which they happened to be sitting.
The lawsuit, which accuses Lohan of false imprisonment and negligence, has been labeled as "absurd" by the defense lawyer, Ed McPherson.
The suit “just doesn’t make sense” said Lohan’s lawyer when asked about why the three men would file suit a year after the incident took place.
"They had ample opportunity to get out of the car," he told the Associated Press.
"It's three guys who want to get a lot of headlines and want to make some money."
The three men - Dante Nigro, Ronnie Blake and Jakon Sutter - are seeking more than $25,000 (£15,300) in damages and they are not the only accusers. A passenger in the care that Lohan was pursuing also filed suit.
