Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan bares it all and does her best Marilyn Monroe act, recreating Monroe’s last nude photo shoot for the latest issue of New York Magazine.
Lohan didn’t hesitate to pose topless for a photo shoot with photographer Bert Stern, who also shot a series of photos of Marilyn Monroe, that have collectively come to be known as “The Last Sitting.” Six weeks after the pictures were taken at the Hotel Bel-Air, America’s most famous actress was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.
Marilyn’s photos show the then 36-year-old bombshell, who was in the darkest period of her life, drunk on champagne and lounging around, with just some sheer scarves as cover. Lohan, who owns one of Monroe’s apartments, used the same see-through material as her in her photo shoot, saying that the decision to pose nearly-nude wasn’t hard. “I didn’t have to put much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It’s really an honor.”
“If you saw my house, I have a lot of Marilyn stuff. It’s eerie because it’s this picture of her, and it’s kind of cartoony, and there’s a big bottle of pills next to her, and they’ve fallen over,” said Lohan, a huge fan of Monroe, describing the painting she owns of the late movie star.
“Here is a woman who is giving herself to the public. She’s saying, ‘Look, you’ve taken a lot from me, so why don’t I give it to you myself.’ She’s taking control back.”
As far getting naked for the camera is concerned, Lohan said she was “comfortable with it” although she admitted to having done “250 crunches” the night before the shoot.
And while avoiding the parallels between her and Monroe’s fate, which Lohan described as “tragic,” she pointed out Heath Ledger’s recent and sudden death.
“You know, it’s also tragic what just recently happened to someone else.” Asked whether she was referring to Heath Ledger, Lohan, who has been in rehab three times last year, nodded, “They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone.”
“I’m not them. But I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me,” Lohan added.
Ledger, who was in the middle of shooting “The Imaginuarium of Doctor Parnassus,” died of a prescription drug overdose last month.
