Young Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after her Mercedes crashed into some palm trees at 5:30 a.m. in the morning Saturday, and she had to be taken to a local hospital.

Lohan's two passengers were not hurt in the mishap, police said, but Lohan's Mercedes wasn’t so lucky. McCann said the car "sustained major collision damage." It was towed at 6:30 and remains in impound.

The troubled 20-year-old party girl suffered minor injuries, Sgt. Mike Foxen said according to Daily News, so she was cited and then released while she was in hospital.

She will have to appear in court to face DUI charges in the near future but no date has been set yet.

Marcelo Volpe, a photographer for the celebrity photo agency X17 Inc., said he saw Lohan leaving a party in Hollywood Hills around 4 a.m. looking "completely wasted."

"It looked like Lindsay had been partying all night, and she appeared to be in no condition to drive," Volpe said, according to X17online.com.

Following the incident, cops mentioned in a press conference that there was a “useable amount” of cocaine found, in her car probably, TMZ.com reported. Lt. Mitch McCann of the Beverly Hills Police Department would not say where the drug was found, but it was "not on her person."
