Lily Allen postpones her US
gigs and her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards due to the sudden
revocation of her US
working visa. Reinstating the new visa takes more anyone expected and Allen is
forced to skip her planned MTV performance with Kanye West and Common and her
barely waited US gigs.
The Smile singer was hindered to enter the US at the Los
Angeles airport earlier this month and her O-1 working visa was revoked,
allegedly because the authorities were alerted by her assaulting a photographer
in London, that ended with her arrest and a caution. After she and her reps
dismissed these speculations, it appears that she has been consulting lawyers
to discover the motif of her not being granted the visa.
The star’s promise to “do everything I can to be back in
America” was shattered by her visa "taking longer than anticipated",
upsetting her and her fans "I'm so
disappointed. I'll be back as soon as I can."
Rumors claim that she has been dropped from the Las Vegas show prepared
by MTV, but her manager informed the contrary: "She was not dropped from
the awards and MTV are hugely disappointed that she will not be able to
participate," he said. MTV
maintained their invitation in case Allen is lucky enough to receive the visa
until September, 9: “(Lily) has a standing invitation to attend the event.”
Nominated for best newcomer, Lily Allen expressed her
disappointment: "I was really looking forward to playing these shows and
being part of the video music awards."
This is the second time this years her US fans miss
her gigs, and not being their fault. Earlier this year, Allen canceled her US tour as she
wanted to focus more on her second album and now, despite all promises, they
will have to wait.
