During a recent Grammys Special interview with NBC, Lil Wayne openly talked about his so-called medical condition which required a lot of unusual treatment. The New Orleans rapper said that he was no longer addicted to the codeine-cough syrup mixed concoction, also known as Lean. According to his statement, drinking the mix made his stomach hurt very badly so he had to cut back.

 

As unbelievable as it may sound, Lil Wayne admitted the fact that he smokes marijuana but only for medicinal purposes. The rapper actually seemed very proud of it, saying that he would stand up for marijuana any day; his motivation was very simple: he is a gangster, a rapper who likes to smoke and he will only do as he pleases. Weezy also explained that he smokes weed because he suffers from terrible headaches that he probably could not deal with otherwise.

 

He does not seem to be concerned about the kind of example he might set by his drug use to his young fans that idolize him because he thinks that a person who needs an example for how to live his or her life should not have been born at all in the first place.

 

Lil Wayne has eight Grammy nominations and he is front-runner for Best Rap Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards. Besides, he is also an outside contender to win Album of the Year during the same ceremony. He will appear and perform at the upcoming 51st annual Grammy Awards, aired on Sunday, the 8th of February, live from Los Angeles.
