Lenovo has just released its new ThinkPad notebooks, looking
to take charge of the Small and Medium Enterprise market. Its three new
releases are known under the names of SL300 and SL400, which start at $799 and
the SL500, which starts at $899.
The screen sizes range from 13 to 15 inches and the weight
starts at 4.6 pounds and can reach 6.4 pounds. All models run on Intel’s Core 2
Duo processors and on its Centrino 2 platform. The memory options range from 1
Giga Byte to 4 GB and the disk space from 80 GB to 320 GB.
The devices offer several built-in wireless connectivity
options, such as 3G (available through a partnership with AT&T), GPS and
Bluetooth. Optional features include Blu-Ray, Webcam and Bluetooth. The company
also included data recovery for its software, in addition to a several services
for online backup and repair warranty.
"The ThinkPad name is synonymous with leadership in
notebook computing for the business user," said Peter Hortensius, senior
vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo, as quoted by MarketWatch.
"Now we're bringing the same quality and reliability that ThinkPad is
known for to small business customers with a number of leading technologies
like high speed mobile broadband and new services and capabilities. ThinkPad
customers expect more from their notebook PCs, and with today's announcements,
we are pleased to continue our tradition of industry-leading innovation," he added.
Aside from the
released devices, the company is currently developing a package of services,
called ThinkPlus Complete IT, which will solely serve small businesses which to
not have IT support.
