On Tuesday, Lenovo unveiled the ThinkPad W700, a laptop designed for graphic users that combines the power of desktop computers with laptop mobility. The new device is a state of the art product if we consider the fact that its specs include two features that its creators say are unprecedented in laptop technology: a built-in digitizer and color calibrator.
These two features seem to appeal solely to graphics professionals, while the others might appeal to regular users in search of increased performance and computing power. These other features include dual-RAID configured hard drives and up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory. Add to this a Blu-Ray burner and you get a device that will certainly stir the interest of every tech-savvy laptop user with a high enough budget to afford it.
The ThinkPad W700 is powered by a Intel mobile quad-core processor and incorporates a Nividia Quadro FX graphic card. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Lenovo laptop comes with Bluetooth technology as well as WiMax.
According to the CRN website, Peter Hortensius, a senior vice president of the company states that “No other PC manufacturer has a mobile workstation that delivers the sheer power, performance and cutting-edge innovation that Lenovo has packed into the ThinkPad W700. The ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation flat out delivers the command performance our customers demand at the desk as well as in the field.”
The laptop will become available next month and the price will start at around $2900.
