Lenovo Announces Four New Computers

As we have already been accustomed to, CES once again involves a glut of new laptops, netbooks and desktop computers being shown off and introduced. Lenovo has already announced four new computers that we will be able to see this week at CES.

The new devices include one of the thinnest 16-inch laptops around, called the Y650, a 15-inch notebook called the Y550 and a 14-inch Y440 notebook. Furthermore, Lenovo has also announced the addition of an instant on and facial recognition to its S10 netbook. However, one of the more interesting of the new Lenovo machines is the IdeaCenter A600 all-in-one computer, boasting a frameless 21.5-inch screen, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a Blu-ray option.

Furthermore, this A600 computer also has a remote control that acts as a motion sensitive game controller. The new laptops will be available in March, starting at $1199, and the A600 will ship in April with a price starting at $999. The updated S10 netbook sells for $349.

The three new class Y computers will have a 16:9 display, which points towards a multimedia use as does the Dolby Home Theater Surround Sound branded audio. Both audio and video settings can be accessed from a quick launch button that launches a software app called the OneKey Theater. In addition, a touch-sensitive slide bar above the screen acts as an app-switcher, and the touchpad now supports some Mac-like multi-touch gestures, including image zooming.

Another interesting advantage of the models is that all three of them have Intel Centrino 2 class CPUs and Nvidia graphics. It remains to be seen how much success will Lenovo have with these new devices and how they will help grow the company's sales.
