Led Zeppelin Considering World Tour

The freshly regrouped British rock band Led Zeppelin are reportedly thinking about going on tour next year, following their December 10 reunion show in London.

According to Ian Astbury, lead singer of The Cult, rumors about Led Zeppelin’s tour are true as The Cult is booked to support them.

"We’ll be back next year because we’re opening for a band you may have heard of ... the name starts with an ’L’ and has a ’Z’ in it,” the singer told the crowd at Bogart’s nightclub in Cincinnati over the weekend.

Although it has been maintained that Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham (son of the late Zep drummer John Bonham) are set for just a one-off show next month, in the latest issue of Guitar Player, guitarist Jimmy Page hinted that Led Zeppelin could extend their number of performances next year.

"It's a bit silly (for only one date) because there is such a massive demand," he said of the band’s upcoming performance at the O2 Arena in London. "It is a bit selfish to do just one show. If that is it we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle."

Robert Plant, however, dismissed the idea in an interview with Uncut magazine: "There'll be one show and that'll be it. We need one last great show because we've done some (reunion) shows and they've been crap."

Reps for both groups declined to comment when they were asked about the news, while a spokesperson for Led Zeppelin said no decisions have been made yet.

Speaking to BBC about the band’s first performance together in years, at the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert, Page said they secretly rehearsed several times before deciding to commit to a reunion gig.

"We wanted to see how well we'd be playing together and once we played it was without doubt we wanted to do it," he said.

"The hardest thing of having anything to do with Led Zeppelin is getting together and rehearsing without anybody finding out about it," he added.
