Led Zeppelin Catalogue To Be Available Online

Legendary rock band Led Zeppelin will offer its music for the first time through all online music retailers beginning with November.

Led Zeppelin is among the last huge musical acts to join the digital revolution, by offering its full catalogue online. Starting with November 13, the British rockers’ albums will be available for download from all online music retailers.

Guitarist Jimmy Page told Reuters: “We are pleased that the complete Led Zeppelin catalogue will now be available digitally.”

Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1983 after the death of drummer John Bonham. The remaining members, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Page, continued to pursue their musical interests and even reunited a very few times.

Impressive reunion news were announced not long ago, when promoter Harvey Goldsmith shared with the world that Led Zeppelin would play a tribute concert in London on Nov. 26, at the O2 arena, for Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who passed away last December.

More than a million fans applied for 10,000 available tickets, to see Plant, Page and Jones play together for the first time in almost 20 years. They will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of drummer John Bonham, who passed away in 1980.

This will be a momentous occasion for fans to see their musical heroes, as the surviving members of Led Zeppelin have reunited extremely rare in the past quarter of a century.

They played together in 1985 for Live Aid, when Phil Collins and Tony Thompson were on drum duties. In 1988, they once again took the stage together, this time joined by Jason Bonham to play at a 40th-anniversary show for Atlantic. Page and Plant reunited six years later for an MTV Unplugged performance that resulted in a world tour and an album.

Goldsmith specified that other performers at the tribute concert would be Who guitarist Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini. The show is in support of the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund.

Page, Plant, Jones, all in their late fifties, early sixties, and Bonham, 42, have a real treat in store for their loyal fans: a whole set. Upon announcing the reunion, Goldsmith said he had initially asked the three band members to play a 30-minute set.

“Jason Bonham became part of the catalyst, and they did a week's rehearsal,” he said. “We had a meeting and Robert turned around and said we're not going to do 30 minutes, we're doing to do a whole set.”

The upcoming concert coincides with the release of a new two-CD best of compilation, “Mothership,” on 13 November and an expanded version of “The Song Remains the Same,” the soundtrack to the band’s 1976 concert movie, to be released Nov. 20.

As well as downloads, Led Zeppelin is teaming up with mobile provider Verizon Wireless to provide ring tones and full song downloads, reports Reuters.

Led Zeppelin has sold well over 100 million albums in the United States alone and more than 300 million albums worldwide.
