Leanne Marshall, the former graphic designer who triumphed over Korto Momolu who was named runner-up and Kenley Collins (3rd place), took home Project Runway's $100,000 prize. Moreover Marshall got a year of representation from Designer's Management Agency, a 2009 Saturn Vue hybrid, an ELLE magazine editorial feature, and the opportunity to sell a fashion line on Bluefly.com. However all collections in the first all-woman final were relatively quite pretty, but Leanne's win was somewhat expected due to the plenty of reports from Fashion Week.
'
'I'm thrilled that Leanne won,'' Gunn later told USA Today. ''All of the strong architectural elements that are Leanne were clearly present, but her looks possessed a buoyancy and an ease, an effortlessness that belied each item's structure.'' Because there was no J. Lo due to a reported foot injury, Gunn was the special guest judge, which was just perfect.
Marshall’s collection was obviously inspired by the ocean and it was elegantly constructed and followed a simple palette of blue, white, and sand. "It's amazing and I'm so honored," said Leanne Marshall hours before the finale aired Wednesday on Bravo.
Season 5 was ''Project Runway's” highest-rated yet. But regarding season 6, we don’t even know if we’ll watch it on Lifetime or NBC or if we ever will get the chance to enjoy another one. The issue is tied up in litigation, so we have no clue as to what to expect. If The Weinstein Co., which owns and produces "Runway," loses the suit, and NBC regains control of the show, it's almost a certainty it will never be back on Bravo, but would go instead to some other NBC Universal network, most likely the biggest one, NBC itself.
