HarperCollins Publishers announced today that a series of young adult novels written by Lauren Conrad will be published. The 22-year-old has inked a three-book deal with HarperCollins.
Regarding the subject of the books which was said to represent her own life she didn’t quite approve to that. “It’s definitely influenced by my own life,” LC told People of her new books. “The books are about a girl who moves to L.A. and stars in a reality show, so obviously there are some similarities.”
Apart from writing which she just took up, Laura Conrad is best known for her fashion designing and reality shows. “The Hills'” star was also helped by co-star Lauren Bosworth in her writing. "I run ideas by Lo and I'll ask for her opinion because I value my friends' opinions," she said. The first book is set to be released round summer 2009.
The series are entitled “L.A. Candy” and they tell the story of a young girl who moves to Los Angeles and becomes the star of a reality television show. Her life radically changes and she discovers that one’s life in the spotlight isn’t what it appears to be.
After high school, Conrad herself headed to Los Angeles to pursue a career in fashion and also signed up to star in the Laguna Beach spin-off show “The Hills” which premiered in May 2006.
The books were negotiated by Adam Korn and Lisa Sharkey of the Creative Development team at HarperCollins along with Matthew Elblonk, a literary agent.
