Latest "Mummy" Is Nothing More Than A Good Action Movie

For those of you out there who are going to the movies to see more than just pure action, I have only one advice: skip 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.' The movie is nothing more than good old fighting against armies of undead, even though this time some of them are just packed in terra cotta, and beautiful landscapes from China. Still, some people might like this extremely relaxing movie.

If you take into consideration what this movie wants to be, you'll find that it is a pretty good one. The special effects are very good and there is plenty of them throughout the movie. The story is simple and not very original, yet it is well created and pretty coherent. Besides Brendan Fraser, who is without doubt the image of this franchise, some good actors have been cast as well. I'm talking here about Jet Li, whose great martial arts moves you could have seen in movies like 'Hero,' and Michelle Yeoh, who is accustomed to playing in both action-packed movies, I'm thinking here about 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' as well as dramas, like 'Memoirs of a Geisha.'

Brendan Fraser is still very good as Rick O'Connell, the main character of the movie, but some critics think that he might have gotten a little bit bored of the franchise, and that this can be seen in the way he acts. Even if this is true, this might not be too visible for the average viewer, who might still like the old 'I hate mummies' line.

Jet Li is pretty cool, but most of the time his character is all covered up in terra cotta, so if you are a fan of the actor, you might be a bit disappointed. However, his martial arts skills are still breathtaking to watch, and his acting is very good too.

The storyline is as follows. When Alex (Luke Ford), who is the son of Rick O'Connell and Evelyn O'Connell (Maria Bello), discovers the tomb of the Dragon Emperor, he understands that he is going to need his parents' help if he wants to explore it. Since both of them are in China delivering a precious artifact, he approaches them and together with Jonathan, Evelyn's brother, they set on their China adventure.

The goal of the four is a very dangerous one because the Dragon Emperor, portrayed by Jet Li is an evil immortal. Back in 50 B.C., the emperor had an argument with a sorceress, an immortal herself. Even though she was the one who made the emperor live forever, she put a curse on him that left him in a state between life an death.

After Alex accidentally brings him and his army of 10,000 terra cotta soldiers back to life, the emperor and his fellow warriors set on their two goals: conquering the world and killing the sorceress (Michelle Yeoh). Our heroes must now defeat the Emperor, who can transform into a dragon, and in doing so they get help from some Yetis as well as the skeletons of the Dragon Emperor's slaves, who are awaken by the sorceress to fight against the man that once had complete power over their lives.
