Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong and his girlfriend of nearly six months, Anna Hansen, announced they're expecting a baby together.

The pair, who met via Armstrong's charity work, have been dating since July. Speaking on Armstrong's behalf, the cyclist's spokesperson confirmed the pregnancy news saying they are "thrilled" to let everyone know the baby is due in June, when Armstrong is reportedly planning a comeback on the Tour de France which kicks off July 4th.

"We are very much looking forward to what 2009 brings on many fronts. We appreciate [the public] respecting our privacy, as we are both eager to celebrate the holidays as a family," Armstrong's rep was quoted by Us Weekly as saying in a statement.

The 37-year-old seven-time winner of one of the most prestigious cycling competitions battled testicular cancer prior to his victories. He was previously married and has three children, Luke, 9, and 7-year-old twin girls Isabella and Grace.

All of them were conceived with frozen sperm from before undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease in 1996. The cancer had spread to his brain, lungs and abdomen.

According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta quoted by CNN, the fact that Armstrong and Hansen conceived without the use of any artificial fertilization process is great news for testicular cancer survivors. 

Armstrong and his ex-wife divorced in 2003. Since the split, Armstrong dated high-profile celebrities such as singer Sheryl Crow and actress Kate Hudson. He was also romantically linked to socialite/designer Tory Burch.
