With Kobe Bryant in a good form, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 123-113 on Sunday night at the Staples Center.
Sure, with 28 points and eight assists Bryant helped the Lakers win, but the Lakers helped them selves as well. Seven L.A. players finished the game in double figures. Andrew Bynum contributed with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Derek Fisher had 15 points and Lamar Odom had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Vladimir Radmanovic had 14 points, Trevor Ariza scored 11 and Ronny Turiaf had 10 points for the Lakers, who won their ninth game over the Warriors and their third consecutive win overall.
"We survived a slow start," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "I thought we would be a little rusty not having enough practice time between games, but we played a stellar second half and we were able to get it to Andrew and use him to our advantage."
The Lakers shot 53.1 percent from the field, despite a slow start.
On the other side, Baron Davis had 20 points and seven assists for Golden State, who went 8-of-33 from three-point range in this game and saw their two-game winning streak snap. Mickael Pietrus scored 14 points and Monta Ellis chipped in with 13 for the Warriors, who fell to 1-16 all-time at the Staples Center.
"We were beaten, outplayed, and they deserved to win," Warriors coach Don Nelson said. "We gave it the old college try and it wasn't to be today."
They managed to get within 99-95 with 8:45 left to play, but the Lakers took control with a 16-4 run to seal the win.
