The Los Angeles Lakers had a big win yesterday against the
San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, finishing with 93
– 91 and closing in on their quest for a new NBA Finals series.
This was San Antonio’s first home loss of the playoffs.
Kobe Bryant made 14 of his 29 shots, finishing with a double
double of 28 points and 10 rebounds. Bryant is the league’s top scorer in the
postseason with an average of 31.4 points in 14 games.
Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom managed to surpass their combined
22 points in Game 3, scoring 26 (Gasol had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Odom
had 16 points plus 9 rebounds.) Vladimir Radmanovic also had a good game with
11 points and 6 rebounds and play-maker Derek Fisher added 9 points.
Unfortunately for the Spurs, their savior from Game Three,
Manu Ginobili, did not find his rhythm, finishing with only 7 points. San
Antonio’s main three scorers were Tim Duncan with his double double of 29
points and 17 rebounds, Tony Parker with 23 points and 9 assists and former Slam
Dunk Champion and NBA veteran Brent Berry had a very good performance with 23
points, but missed the last three-point shot that would have won the game for
the Spurs.
"Beating San Antonio is about moving the ball," season
MVP Kobe Bryant said, according to USAToday, which also quoted Derek Fisher
about his plans "to continue to really solidify the defensive end of our
court in terms of being able to control the basketball and penetration."
The series is now 3 – 1 for the Lakers, adding great pressure
on the fifth game that could send the Spurs home.
