The "American Idol" competition is down to three as LaKisha Jones was given the boot on Wednesday after she failed to impress the fans.
The 27-year-old Michigan resident was the ninth hopeful to be eliminated after she performed "Stayin' Alive" and "Run to Me," belonging to the Bee Gees.
Jones' performance of "Run to Me" got more positive reviews from "Idol" judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell than her first song.
"I think you and Blake (Lewis) are vulnerable tonight," Cowell said.
While last week Cowell said Jones' singing made him want to kiss her, and then he simply did so, this week he shrugged of her performance, saying, "No kiss tonight, baby."
Host Ryan Seacrest noticed Jones during the commercial break, right before she was given the bad news, doing what appeared to be talking to herself.
"If I go home, hopefully I remember the words, and I don't want to cry," Jones responded, when asked what she was quietly telling herself.
"I was thinking and overanalyzing everything, and hoping Simon would kiss me again," she added.
Next week, Melinda Doolittle, 29, Blake Lewis, 25, and Jordin Sparks, 17, the final three contestants, will be pressed to perform a hat trick, singing one song that they choose themselves, one chosen by the judges, and one chosen by Arista founder Clive Davis.
