Thursday, Los Angeles police informed that they would begin investigating death threats against octuplet mother Nadya Suleman and then advise her publicist with regards to the way other messages of the like should be dealt with.
The threats have resulted from the news that the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother was getting public assistance in order to take care of her fourteen children, all conceived through in vitro fertilization.
Police Lt. John Romero stated that officers had been scheduled to meet with Suleman's publicist Mike Furtney concerning the plethora of messages and phone calls he had received against Suleman, her children and himself, as well.
The publicist revealed Thursday that he was getting 500 new e-mails on a daily basis, adding that he was also seeking advice from a security professional in order to establish the best method of handling the issue.
For the time being, the octuplet mom is living in an undisclosed location and according to Furtney, she is spending time with her children each and every day.
Currently, the octuplets are still in the hospital, where they are to remain for a few more weeks.
Furtney disclosed that not all the calls received had been angry ones, stating that one family from the Midwest had invited Suleman and her children to live on their farm, while others had offered to help with clothing, food or money.
Nadya Suleman has been supporting her six other children with $490 a month in food stamps, whereas she also receives Social Security disability payments for three of her children, which amounts to $2,379 a month.
