Kylie Minogue Emerges Wiser from Her Illness

Pop princess Kylie Minogue has battled cancer and won and while Prince Charming is still to arrive, she is not allowing any demons to stand in her way.

Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2005, in the midst of her “Showgirl” tour. The remaining dates were postponed and Kylie took a lengthy retreat from the public eye to battle the illness.

She underwent surgery that year and then took much-needed time to recover, which she has done successfully. While the cancer is out of her life, Kylie says some things have changed permanently.

In a new interview with Glamour magazine, the petite Australian singer talks about her failed relationship with Olivier Martinez, having children, reviving her music career and moving forward with her life.

The singer tells Glamour that she and French actor Olivier Martinez have ended a four-year relationship but that she is not ready to be “friends” with him just yet. There was general disappointment among her fans earlier this year when their separation was announced, with many accusing Martinez of being unfaithful to Kylie.

Kylie however has moved on and says she still dreams of having a family. “I want to keep working on finding perfect harmony within my life and my work. And a family, yeah, that's still something I would love to happen.”

Her career seems to be on a steadier track, as a new album, titled “X,” is scheduled for a Nov. 26 release.

According to Kylie.com, a site managed by her label company, the singer’s first studio album in four years will be preceded by a single, namely “2 Hearts,” to be released in early November.

The track listing for the album is, per Kylie.com: “2 Hearts,” “Like A Drug,” “In My Arms,” “Speakerphone,” “Sensitized,” “Heart Beat Rock,” “The One,” “No More Rain,” “All I See,” “Stars,” “Wow,” “Nu-di-ty,” and “Cosmic.”

Before fans get a listen to Kylie’s new album, they will have the chance to see her in a documentary, titled “'White Diamond,” made with long-time creative director William Baker. The documentary shows Kylie during her 2006 comeback, when she resumed her “Showgirl” tour.

As to recovering from cancer, the 39-year-old told Glamour: “I've shrunk to nothing, I've ballooned - my body is not what it used to be, but it's the body I'm in.

“When you are stripped of everything and you have to grow your eyelashes back, grow your hair back, it's just astonishing. It's hard to express what I've learnt from that but a deep psychological and emotional shift has taken place.”

Kylie shares the wisdom her illness has taught her: “beauty comes from within.”
