Kristen Stewart, well known for her roles in the vampire super hit “Twillight” and “Into the Wild,” will play the lead role in an upcoming biopic of Joan Jett, the famous rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and actress.
The movie will be called The Runaways and will depict the rise and fall of the 1970s all-girl rock band with the same name. Joan Jett herself will executive-produce the biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kristen Stewart will play the living legend Joan Jett. The now 50-year-old singer is best known for her hit song "I Love Rock 'N' Roll." The Runaways, the first successful all-girl rock band, was a trend-setting band and served as inspiration to numerous singers who followed including echoing names such as Garbage, Evanescence, Go-Go’s, Blondie, Gossip, the Donnas and many more.
Before starting to rock as Joan Jett, Kristen Stewart will play Bella in New Moon, the first of probably three Twillight sequels. Filming on The Runaways will start in 2009.
The most successful hits released by The Runaways are "Cherry Bomb," "Queens of Noise" and "Born to Be Bad."
Joan Jett’s "I Love Rock N' Roll" was No.1 on the Billboard charts from March 20 to May 1, 1982. Her other big hits include "Crimson and Clover", "Do You Wanna Touch Me", "Light of Day", "Love is All Around", "Bad Reputation," "I Hate Myself for Loving You," and "Little Liar."
